Who we are
Midnimo Relief and Development Organization (MRDO) is a legally registered local development Minority organization working in Somalia specifically Hiraan region since its inception in the year 2003. The organization was established to respond and advocate for the minority communities problems in Hiraan region ranging from lack of access to essential basic social services in (health, education, water, sanitation and hygiene, (WASH) livelihood programs and human rights, etc). MRDO implements Community Development programs in the areas of Health, Education, Human Rights, Peace Building and Reconciliation, Emergency and Disaster Relief mitigation alongside rehabilitation programs of collapsed infrastructures and institutions in Hiraan region. MRDO works with other local stakeholders and directly with target communities within its coverage areas in a participatory approach. MRDO is an active member of Hiraan Clusters including CCCM/Protection, Health, Food Security, Cash Working Group (CWG),\ WASH and Education.

MRDO manages 55 IDP Site in Hirshabelle on the ground including minority and marginalised groups, MRDO is implementing partner for IOM Also MRDO has strong team to implementing CCCM activities site monitoring, community feedback mechanisms CFM, service map, safety auditing, camp coordination, camp management, site maintenance and registration new arrival Trucking Tool NAT.

Our mission
MRDO is a service-oriented organization dedicated to improving the lives of the marginalized, minority, vulnerable and the poor through education, relief, humanitarian interventions and development initiatives by collaborating with affected communities and groups and local and international partners through integration into local markets and systems.

Our Vision
MRDO vision is to be a leading organization in championing peace in Somalia where all groups including the minority, marginalized and the vulnerable have access to basic and essential services.

MRDO’s other goals
- To ensure that armed conflicts in both urban and rural areas are amicably resolved and affected communities by natural calamities such as famine and floods are controlled by observing environmental measures.
- To raise the living standards of the minority and vulnerable groups.
- To mobilize the communities to easily access basic services e.g. health, sanitation, basic education, etc.
- To improve lives of Somalia peoples effected by conflict, natural disaster, poverty and other calamities.
- To build the Capacity of minority and vulnerable groups to effectively play the role of agents of observance of human rights
- To promote involvement of the communities in processes that increase their democratic consciousness and awareness.
- To train community groups and opinion leaders who provide sustainable resource personnel for human development in a various communities.
- To promote sustained peace building, healing, reconciliation and rehabilitation.
- Strengthened socio economic capacity of members, individuals and grassroots organizations with which we work.
- Sustained institutional and governance capacity development.
- Rights based approach. The basic of our work is to realize the voices of the poor and the disadvantaged are heard and respected, shielded and fulfilled. MRDO bring to the attention of other humanitarian actors these issues towards the fulfillment of the poor and the disadvantaged.
- Partnering and Networking. MRDO forge relationships and partnerships with international actors and donors to support its target groups. We will also work in close relationship with the poor, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged members of the communities. Partnerships and Networking support us towards accessing resources and reduce risks to our target communities.
Objectivies
MRDO is working towards achieving its planned goals and objectives for the benefit of its target groups that include but not limited to the minority, Marginalized, vulnerable, poor, socially, economically and politically deprived people by:-
- Promoting minority groups education, health, child protection,
humanitarian and development and dissemination of knowledge in
various fields to meet the needs of the Somali population. - Improving the quality of minority children’s lives by caring for, and educating orphans, children from impoverished families, physically/mentally disabled Minority groups, children and street children.
- Encouraging the development of personal growth, intellect, creativity, integrity, acumen, leadership, self-reliance and skill enhancement of the Somali People through active participation in learning and provision of high quality education.
- Assisting community in terms of internal displaced population including disabled and advocacy for peace and human rights for through basic education.
- Supporting and improving the quality of the institutions engaged in education through school rehabilitation, the provision of educational equipment, furniture, textbooks and learning materials etc.
- Introducing non-formal education and skill training to both rural and urban poor population also drilling shallow water wells in economic and social life, and in general their full integration in the country’s development.
