MIDNIMO Relief and Development Organization (MRDO) is an NGO based in Somalia, committed to providing essential assistance to vulnerable minority and marginalized communities. Established 2003, MRDO operates Hirshabelle state, with main-offices in Beletweyne and sub-office in Mogadishu  MRDO’s organization’s scope includes relief aid, rehabilitation and CCCM Programs for developing minority and marginalized, livelihood projects, Water and Sanitation (WASH) programs, protection initiatives and other development programs.

Through partnerships with IOM, MRDO strives to make a tangible impact in the lives-saving for IDP sites of those most in need.

Established in response to the humanitarian crisis resulting from the internal displaced population operates across Hirshabelle state, with main-offices in Beletweyne/Hiran region and Banadir. MRDO’s organization’s scope includes CCCM  for water schemes and schools, livelihood projects, the main core activities are Camp management and camp coordination CCCM programs, protection initiatives (with a focus on IDP), and other development programs. Through partnerships with IOM, MRDO strives to make a tangible impact in the lives-saving of those most in need. In order to complete the field implementation process, we require the services of qualified personnel for the position below

: Job Title: Finance Officer Location: Beletweyne (with frequent visit to Jowhar Field office) Employment Type: Full time Duration of engagement: 8 months with possibility of extension based on availability of funds.

Job Description•

This position will support the Programme management team in managing the accounting systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with accounting standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donor’s rules and regulations, and legal requirements to support high-quality programs serving the vulnerable.

  • As part of a project team, you will help coordinate daily financial activities through the duties outlined below. Duties and Responsibilities: The finance officer, under the supervision of the Programme lead, will carry out the following•

Provide operational oversight function on cash/bank transactions during project implementation

  • Ensure accuracy of all data required for processing financial transactions to assigned accounts into the QuickBooks financial accounting package. • Participate in the improvement of the accounting system and internal control.
  • Follow up and review all project-related travel requests and liquidations in line with travel policy.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements on a monthly basis for review by the Finance Lead timely.
  • Monitor balances in account receivables and payables, prepare reports on material exceptions to policies or identify long outstanding ones for corrective actions
  • Support the preparation of monthly and end-of-project financial reports
  • Accomplish other tasks as requested by the Finance Lead. Skills and Qualifications
  • Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred. A Punch’s level degree is an advantage. • A minimum of 2 years of progressive financial management experience on development projects is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of Global Fund regulations, policies, procedures, and familiarity with grants management is an advantage. • Fluency in English and Somali is required.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, especially with accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial analysis, and knowledge of the usage of Quick Book are preferred.
